It has been said that the definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.  Well color me insane.  Every Wednesday night, I turn on my televison, put on my favorite channel, The History Channel, and watch one of my favorite programs, MONSTER QUEST.   For those who have not seen the show, basically, the show investigates urban legends and unsolved misteries such as Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster and other mythical creatures said to have been seen in modern times.  They go on expeditions looking for evidence to support sightings of creatures that are not known to exist.  I am deeply fascinated by these subjects.  I love the possiblility of unknown species being discovered in a time in which so much is already known.  That fact alone may make me slightly insane, but there is a bigger reason.

Every week, I watch MONSTER QUEST, and I expect some new development.  I sit down and watch this program for an hour, knowing that some new species will not be discovered.  I know that they are not going to find Bigfoot.  I know that they will not capture Nessy.  I know that with the media coverage we have today, and all of the hype surrounding these mysteries, that I will know if one of these Monsters is discovered before the show will have a chance to air.  I already know that nothing is going to happen at the end of the show.  I know how the show is going to end.  Yet, I continue to watch. Just hoping that one week I am wrong, and something new is discovered.  I still love to watch the show however.  Does it make me crazy? Perhaps.  But it is still interesting to me when they go through the process of running DNA tests, record different behaviors in animals in the uninhabited wilderness, and seemingly come closer to solving these mysteries.  I guess it's comperable to watching Professional Wrestling.  I know that the outcome is predetermined, but it is still exciting to me to see how that outcome is reached.
