Who Doesn't Like Pie?

To borrow from my pal Bernie and others like Larry King here's a stream of consciousness thing for you.

First, a gratuitous zinger for Cubs fans...Have you noticed your next big thing Felix Pie is starting to hit?  Oh, but it's with the Orioles!  What a shame!  How's your centerfield situation?  Yeah, that's what I thought...sorry.  Now, he's still not going to win any batting titles but Pie is making enough contact to move up to second in the order.  Fans quit looking at the manager...look at the people that are bringing in bad guys and sending out good guys.  Mark Derosa for Milton Bradley anyone?

Second, before you dismiss the D.C. Nats, the top half of their order is substantial.  Or should I say was.  Their leadoff man, the well traveled Nyger Morgan, just broke his hand and is out for the year.  The Morgan, Guzman, Zimmerman, Dunn combo was really clicking.  Good news for the weekend as the Birds look to climb back to 20 games over .500...and better.  Morgan .369 OBP, Guzman .303 avg., Zimmerman .913 OPS w/27 hr's and Dunn's .995 OPS w/ 34hr and 90 rbi.  That group is now missing the table setter.  Good for us.

And what happened to that best team in baseball horse manure?  Remember earlier in the week when one of the big columnists said that the Rockies were the best?  And by the way, we all know he did that not because he believes that the Rockies are the best team but because he wanted to be the first to say it just in case they stay hot.  Don't be fooled.  Also the Rocks, whom I like, just lost two in a row to the Dodgers  in Denver.

If you're not already aware, I'm not very technologically advanced.  So the thrills I enjoyed on vacation may only be new to me but I wanted to mention them.  Recently on Summer vacation to Colorado, along with all of the other crap that you bring along I had a new toy...the Verizon Voyager.  Pretty cool, real easy to use key board, nice video screen,  and a nice touch screen that my kids preferred.  It's great and on the way through Kansas I'm watching ballgames and following others live on the web.  That would be enough for me to be happy.  But on our way to Estes Park out of Boulder we were running late and it's dark through the mountains and then it gets foggy and rainy...and we get lost...and the gas tank is on empty...and the family is getting panicky.  So to give my 10 year old something to do to take his mind out of angst mode I told him to get on the Voyager and find out where we were on the gps app.  Within moments young Brad had our location, pointed us in the right direction, found the gas station and eased our fears.  And that's not all.  On the way home we located restaurants, found a hotel and made reservations flying down the interstate.  Hooray for the Verizon Voyager and my entrance into the century.
