Colby Rasmus is having a very solid rookie season for the Cardinals.  He's now getting the bulk of the starts in center field.  And he's among the National League's top rookies when it comes to production.  But he no longer can be considered the front runner for the N.L. Rookie of the year award.

Most Home Runs, National League Rookies – 2009

Garrett Jones, Pit           18

Colby Rasmus, StL            14

Casey McGehee, Mil           12

Andrew McCutchen, Pit        11

And Garrett Jones has put up his numbers in less than half of the games as Colby.  Jones 55 games, Rasmus 119.  Jones is also hitting .294 to Colby's .259.

The Pirates are at the bottom of the division, but if Jones continues to rack up these kind of power numbers, while still hitting for high average, voters may have no choice but to cast their ballots for the Bucco OF/1B.
