The Blues resumed training camp Wednesday morning at Scottrade Center with more practicing and scrimmaging. Today's sessions were closed to the public but tomorrow morning's activity will be free and open to the public, downtown.
Forward D-J King has suffered a thumb injury that is reportedly tendon-related and could sideline the winger for a couple weeks, according to Jeremy Rutherford of the Post-Dispatch. King missed 81 games last season with a shoulder injury and has been perceived to be a likely candidate to make this year's team as a rugged part and bookend to fellow-forward Cam Janssen.
J-R also reports that David Backes was back at practice today after suffering a knee-on-knee hit in last night's 3-1 win at home over Minnesota in a preseason opener at Scottrade center. Backes left late in the second period but returned in the third and appeared to be fine when walking in the lockeroom after the game.
Thursday's action will serve as a precursor to a hectic weekend that will include three games in as many nights. Andy Murray's team will entertain Colorado on Friday night and Dallas on Saturday night before visiting the Avalanche on Sunday evening.
Next week road exhibitions on Thursday at Minnesota and Saturday at Dallas will precede the team's trip to Sweden to start the regular season, against Detroit, in a pair of games on October 2nd and 3rd. Versus will nationally televise the opener before Fox Sports Midwest and Fox Sports Detroit simulcast the second game.
