Yours truly is super excited about being a part of the terrific team that is 101 ESPN! My job is to supply afternoon updates from noon to 7PM and cover the St. Louis Blues (something I've been privileged to do off and on since the 1991-1992 season).

I grew up in the area, hailing from the steeltown of Granite City, Illinois and began covering hockey while earning a degree from SIUE.

The Blues host Colorado tonight at Scottrade Center as the preseason and a three-game homestand continues. Goaltenders Ty Conklin and Jake Allen will dress and likely split time for the Note. Allen, a 2008 second round pick, incidentally, is expected to return to his junior team in Montreal following his stint in training camp, according to Blues' Radio Voice Chris Kerber.

Both teams are coming off 3-1 wins in their respective exhibition openers. The Note topped Minnesota at home on Tuesday night as Paul Kariya, Chris Porter and Derek Anderson found the back of the net.

The Avs knocked off Dallas at home last night as newly acquirred netminder Craig Anderson played the entire game. Slovakian netminder Peter Budaj (BOO-die), the team's starter last season, may see some time tonight.

Tomorrow evening the Blues host Dallas before playing in Denver on Sunday. Tonight and tomorrow's contests are slated for 7:00 starts.
