Signs...looking even praying for signs that the Cardinals will come out of their doldrums and get the offense going in time for the playoffs.  It has been a tough three week stretch for the St. Louis hitters but tonights game in Houston made me feel a whole lot better about being ready for October.

Sure, you can say that it is an easy thing to point out because the Cardinals have pumped out a bunch of runs the last couple of nights.  But I'm looking past the raw numbers at the why and the how.

On Monday night St. Louis took on a lefthander...'nuff said, right?  Normally yes, but his time it goes further.  Wandy Wadwiguez has been particularly tough on the Cardinals.  The fact that the boys hammered him into submission was a nice start.

Then last night I started to feel whole lot better about October.  The Birds were facing a guy for the first time.  Usually, that's the perfect situation for the video crutch.  You're aware of that malady, yes?  The Cardinals video man, Chad Blair is so good that when he does not have a ton of video on an opponent the hitters seem lost. Last night should have fallen right into that same trap.  But not with this group of post-season ready hitters.  They torched the kid and sent him back into Bazardo world where everything is backwards.

Take a look a Mark DeRosa.  A guy who has been playing hurt since July.  If the Skipper can find Mark the right amount of rest without collecting rust...this guy could really be the difference maker in the lineup.  In his last six games DeRosa is hitting .343 with three doubles, one triple, two homers and eight rbi's.

Lugo has shown that he is still an offesive force to the point that he is going to start...at least against left handed pitching.  Skip Schumaker looks like he's ready to go on a tear as the regular season ends...and Pujols and Holliday are the constants.

The Cardinals are coming...tra la, tra la.
