About The Author:

Yours truly is super excited about being a part of the terrific team that is 101 ESPN! My job is to supply afternoon updates from noon to 7PM and cover the St. Louis Blues (something I've been privileged to do off and on since the 1991-1992 season).

I grew up in the area, hailing from the steeltown of Granite City, Illinois and began covering hockey while earning a degree from SIUE.

The Blues face Minnesota tonight (9/24) at 7:00 in a preseason game from St. Paul. No local TV or radio coverage is planned. The Note enters the matchup 2-and-2 on the preseason after dropping back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday.

Tonight's Blues' lineup greatly resembles what we expect to see when the regular season begins a week from tomorrow in Sweden. David Backes, Keith Tkachuk, Patrik Berglund and Jay McClement will play center. The wings will be Andy McDonald, Paul Kariya, Brad Winchester, Alex Steen, David Perron, T-J Oshie, Brad Boyes and B-J Crombeen. The six defensemen will be Barret Jackman, Erik Johnson, Roman Polak, Carlo Colaiacovo, Alex Pietrangelo and Tyson Strachan. Chris Mason and Ty Conklin will split time in nets.

Scratches from the 28-man roster include Derek Armstrong, Cam Janssen, D-J King, Darryl Sydor, Mike Weaver, Jonas Junlund and Ben Bishop. Blueliner and Captain Eric Brewer is still rehabbing from offseason surgery and isn't expected to begin the regular season on the active roster.

The Blues also play Saturday night at 7:00 in Dallas in a final preseason test against NHL competition. Andy Murray's team will fly to Stockholm, Sweden immediately following that game. Next Tuesday the Blues meet Linkopings HC of the Swedish Elite League at noon, Central Time in an exhibition before starting the regular season against Detroit on October 2nd and 3rd in matching 2:00 (CST) afternoon starts from Sweden.

The Blues and Red Wings will be allowed to travel three goaltenders with the third not counting against the 23-man regular season roster limit.
