- The Cardinals have an opportunity to pop the champagne corks three more times. But will they? Sure, why not! The club comes into the NLDS best-of-5 series with the Dodgers as one of the National League favorites. But they are well down the list of favorites to win the World Series. I believe in this club and in the rotation.
- They'll take care of the Dodgers in 4.
- The weather forecast for games 3 and 4 in St. Louis is horrible. Get set for very cold weather at Busch Stadium.
- If I had a vote for N.L. Cy Young, I'd give it to Chris Carpenter. The Cardinal ace has the lowest National League ERA, and best overall record among the top contenders. Plus, his comeback story is the stuff of legends. I make this statement after much deliberation. Adam Wainwright would be second on my ballot, with Tim Lincecum third.
- Albert Pujols is the easy choice for MVP. Enough said.
- Jim Tracy of the Rockies is the N.L. Manager of the Year. Sorry Joe Torre. But what Tracy did with that floundering club is remarkable.
