Who is going to be the closer?!  One of the glaring problems is the closer spot.  I admire Ryan Franklin.  A standup guy...a real pro...a great setup guy...a remarkable four-plus months as a closer this year and then it all goes splat.

What happened?  I think the league finally figured him out.  Then rather than re-adjust his game plan, Franklin appeared to lose command of his fastball and confidence in his stuff.  A chicken or egg thing but bottom line he couldn't get it done again.

So, where do you go?  Around the office the one name that keeps coming up is that of
Billy Wagner.  If that deal is do-able, it is the obvious winning answer.  Can you sign Holliday, DeRosa and Billy Wagner?  Probably not...need to.

My fear is that the Birds will not sign Holliday...DeRosa can't wait and goes elsewhere..David Freese is given the job at 3B...Schumaker goes to LF...Lugo is your secondbaseman...Motte is the closer. I like all of these players and I think they can all contribute but, can they contribute to a division winning playoff team in key roles?  You tell me.
