You tell me, which group of victories is best.  Which of the these groups of three wins carries more weight with you?  Which has greater value, victories over Wyoming, Texas Tech and Oklahoma or wins over Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin?  I think it's clear that the second set of victories is superior.  I don;t think it's even close.  You could even argue that a win over Oklahoma, at this juncture, shouldn't be considered a good win.  In case you haven't noticed the Sooners don't have a winning record.

So what am I really talking about here?  The team that owns victories over the second set is Iowa.  Now the pollsters and computers all have the Hawkeyes in the top ten but if you're talking about who has the best resume to this  point (and you should be) then it's clear that Iowa should be number one right now.

The other group of wins belongs to Texas.  A great program.  They might be the best team in college football.  The key word is might.  You experts can tell me what you think.  I respect that.  But let's face it's nothing more than an educated guess.  And while guess work and predictions are fun and fodder, I prefer the facts.  And by facts, I mean who wins the most...loses the least...and who beats the best teams the most.

I don't know how the rest of the season is going to play out...and neither do you...and that's the point.  Rewarding or discriminating for or against a team because of preconceived notions is wrong on it's face.  And the other arguement that I get is the old,"I know we lost but we're still better."  That's insulting and by God un-American.  The whole point is to play it out on the field.  Forget what the "experts" think...show me who plays better.  That's how to determine a champion.

As usual this conversation ends with a college football playoff.  But until that happens it's important to use logic and respect the teams who get it done on the gridiron regardless of what we think of them.

What do you think?
