Yours truly is super excited about being a part of the terrific team that is 101 ESPN! My job is to supply afternoon updates from noon to 7PM and cover the St. Louis Blues (something I've been privileged to do off and on since the 1991-1992 season).

I grew up in the area, hailing from the steeltown of Granite City, Illinois and began covering hockey while earning a degree from SIUE.

Forward Lars Eller is set to make his NHL debut after being recalled by the Blues, under emergency conditions, from their minor league affiliate in Peoria. The move is likely in correlation to Andy McDonald crashing into the boards in Saturday's 4-0 loss at home to Florida. McDonald is not expected to play tomorrow evening against Calgary in the finale of a three-game homestand. The Note is looking to rebound after suffering back-to-back losses at home for the first time since 1997.

Eller was the Blues first pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and the 13th player taken overall that year. He has totaled 11 points in 11 games for the Riverman this year. Eller has lit the lamp three times while adding eight assists. He is a plus-three on the young season.

Eller, who will become the sixth Danish native to play in the NHL, was the first-of-three Blues' first round picks in 2007. Defenseman Ian Cole was selected 18th overall before forward David Perron went 26th overall.
