12:02pm – Bernie is flying to Las Vegas for the weekend so Cliff Saunders if filling in for him today. Obviously the Cardinals want Matt Holiday back, but Cliff breaks down what Cards GM John Mozeliak had to say about exclusive negotiating rights with him till November 20 and the other teams pursuing him. The Blues have to find offense because last night was hard to watch. 12:22pm – Cardinals insider Joe Strauss thinks Holliday will get a contract worth around $20 million a year, which would put Pujols around $25 million a year. Strauss doesn’t think the Cardinals would be comfortable with such a high payroll, but he says there are many people who believe it would be within their means to have around a $125 million payroll next year. Strauss doesn’t see how Joel Pineiro can be a priority with his performance history and the need for offense in the lineup.
12:42pm – Former NFL coach Dennis Green joins the show and says the coaches right now are trying to figure out which players on the team right now can be champions. The Rams have to get new players who have the same winning mentality of Steven Jackson. Green says he is enjoying being a coach in the UFL, and he has no interest in coaching again in the NFL.
1:02pm – Cliff discusses a Jason Whitlock column praising Brett Favre’s performance this season and comparing him to Babe Ruth, Muhammed Ali if the Vikings win the Super Bowl. Cliff says Whitlock is ridiculous to compare Favre to great feats such as Ruth’s called shot or Joe Namath’s guarantee. 1:22pm – Rams insider Jim Thomas says the lack of playmaking ability on offense sticks out the most about the Rams. Thomas thinks the biggest surprise of the draft for him was James Laurinaitis because Jim was a little warm on him being selected because of the recent history of Ohio State linebackers in the NFL. Coach Spags expects his staff to be with him a long time and to grow with him. 1:42pm – Cliff wraps the show chatting with Tom Casey about the Blues about their upcoming schedule.
