LAS VEGAS (The Associated Press) -

South Florida used a stifling defense to beat San Francisco 69-49 Saturday at the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.

The Bulls held San Francisco scoreless for the first five minutes of the second half while extending a 39-25 halftime lead to 45-25.

Dominique Jones scored 23 points, including five 3-point field goals, for South Florida (9-2).

Michael Williams led San Francisco (3-8) with 12 points.

Neither team shot well. The Bulls hit 37.5 percent of their shots, while the Dons were slightly better at 39 percent.

But San Francisco was better from 3-point range (hitting 32.3 percent to San Francisco's 27.3) and at the free-throw line (17 for 24 to the Dons' 14 for 26). South Florida also won the rebounding battle, 38-30.
