Bernie kicks off April with plenty of Friday baseball talk and wonders if Blues fans should be worried about the 2016 playoffs.
The show also welcomes SLU Athletic Director to talk the Billikens’ baseketball future and Travis Ford’s hiring.
Other interviews include Cardinals FSM announcer Dan McLaughlin and college hoops analyst Mike DeCourcy.
More Cardinals Lineup Confusion
Just when it seemed everything was settling, this week happened, with injuries to Jordan Walden and newly signed shortstop Ruben Tejada.
The Cardinals’ answer? To carry six outfielders on the 25-man roster with five infielders.
The team could be handcuffing themselves with plenty of outfield options and not many infield choices.
Not wanting to rush Aledmys Diaz along is understandable, but there’s a spot open. The Cardinals obviously weren’t sold on Jedd Gyorko at shortstop, but now they are?
Most Comfortable We’ve Been with Blues?
Blues fans typically feel their neck hairs stand up in April. Who will be the team’s first round draw? Will they utilize both Brian Elliott and Jake Allen?
Two non-concerning areas have been scoring and defensive toughness down the stretch. The Blues averaged 3.5 goals per game in March with a 10-2 record.
Brian Eliott’s 193 minute scoreless streak also owed a lot to his defenders, namely Joel Edmundson, who has 149 hits through 62 games played.
SLU Athletic Director Chris May Interview
May talks the Travis Ford hiring, the new coach’s ties to the area, and where the Billikens want to be as a program.
“Every time we met, we connected more on what our visions were and our vision for the Billikens is to be a nationally competitive basketball program.”

Cardinals Announcer Dan McLaughlin Interview
Danny Mac addresses the bitter end to Cardinals camp, the ‘raw’ meeting between Mike Matheny and team leaders, and if the skipper has ever faced this much pressure.
“I don’t remember a spring training like this…to be quite honest with you…They basically lose three shortstops when you talk about (Jhonny) Peralta, (Ruben) Tejada, (Jose) Oquendo…I think the best reliever I saw in camp was Jordan Walden. That’s a huge loss.”
Cardinals’ Biggest Positives
There’s been plenty of negative talk surrounding the 2016 Cardinals, but what are the positives? Adam Wainwright and Mike Leake join the starting rotation, which may be even better than last season’s.
The bullpen is also deep, to go along with plenty of outfield potential. Randal Grichuk and Stephen Piscotty are both candidates for breakout seasons.

Sporting News College Hoops Writer Mike DeCourcy Interview
DeCourcy gives his pick for Villanova vs. Oklahoma, and discusses Houston’s ‘dome factor’ and if could affect shooters.
“(NRG Stadium) seems to just suck the life out of everyone who plays in it…This place just seems different…If indeed it plays out like that, it really accelerates the advantage for North Carolina.”
Matheny Under Pressure
Mike Matheny has been overly charitable to veterans in his past lineup choices. He’s given too many at-bats to declining veterans at younger players’ expenses.
The skipper can’t afford to only play ‘his guys’ in 2016. Add this dilemma to a seemingly tense camp and Matheny is starting the season with his hands full.
