Adam Wainwright moves to 60-Day Disabled List & Carson Kelly now on 10-Day Disabled List

Cardinals catcher Carson Kelly is heading to the 10-day disabled list. The team announced Kelly has a right hamstring strain.  Kelly’s stint on the DL is retroactive to May 16th. The St. Louis Cardinals purchased the contract of catcher Steven Baron of the Memphis Redbirds and their AAA affiliate. Baron joins the team’s 40-man roster. Adam Wainwright will also go from the 10-day DL to the 60-day disabled list.

Baron is 27-years old. He last played Major League Baseball for the Seattle Mariners back in 2015. During that stint, Baron played four games. When Baron was called up on Thursday, he was batting .153 for the Memphis Redbirds.  He has a career .233 batting mark with 29 home runs and 255 RBI in 642 minor league games.

Five players on the Cardinals have gone to the disabled list in the past week. They include, Carlos Martinez (right lat strain), Tyler Lyons (mid back strain), Adam Wainwright (right elbow inflammation), Luke Gregerson (right shoulder) and now Carson Kelly.
