The next time you see Dexter Fowler he’ll be in a boot because of a broken left foot. The Cardinals announced on Sunday that he would be going to the disabled list for 10 days.
Fowler was helped off the field as he rounded second base coming up limp on Friday night versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was later made known that Fowler took a foul ball off his left foot. Tests showed it was fractured. Kolten Wong was called up to replace Fowler. It is not yet known if the Cardinals will put Fowler on the disabled list for the rest of the season. He has since returned to St. Louis to see a doctor. Surgery will not be necessary.
MLB.com & 101 ESPN Radio insider Jen Langosch reports that the Cardinals will give Harrison Bader and Tyler O’Neill more chances to be in the starting lineup.
