Once thought to be a leading candidate to wind up in St. Louis, Josh Donaldson will instead take his talents to Atlanta in 2019.
The news of Donaldson’s one-year, $23 million deal with the Braves broke Monday afternoon via The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal:
Donaldson in agreement with #Braves on one-year, $23M free-agent contract, sources tell The Athletic. Deal is pending a physical.

As touched on above, the Cardinals were Vegas favorites to land Donaldson at one point, topping the list with +115 odds with the Braves outside the top four for his services.
The 32-year-old third baseman slashed .246/.352/.449 splitting 52 games between Toronto and Cleveland this past season, sitting much of the campaign out with a calf injury.
