Quick Fits of Rage…
…you know things aren’t going your way when you have shares of the over in each of the first three games of the Diamondbacks-Rockies series and the under hits in all three. Then you avoid the fourth game of the series and the teams combine for 21 runs. Just one of those weeks.
…I won’t sugarcoat anything: I’ve been dreadful this week. I was up over 10 units following Sunday’s action and now I’m +1.55 units on the MLB season. I won’t make excuses: My picks have been sewage. Let’s just get back to work. It’s a new month and the perfect time to right the ship.
Saturday 6/1/19 Picks:
953 Washington Nationals at 954 Cincinnati Reds, 3:10 p.m. CT
Tanner Roark has seemingly figured something out, at least when it comes to missing more bats. He has struck out 59 batters over his 56 1/3 innings this season and faces a Nationals’ lineup today that has struck out at a rate of 24.3% against right-handed pitching. On the other side, Erick Fedde has been solid over his last two starts, surrendering only one earned run over his last 10 innings. That said, he has struggled against left-handers over his career. Three of the top five hitters in the Reds’ lineup today hit from the left side (Joey Votto, Derek Dietrich and Jesse Winker) and this offense is hot. Last night, Cincinnati scored nine runs against Washington pitching, which was the fourth time in six games that the Reds scored at least eight runs. Behind a revamped Roark and a surging offense, I like the Reds on the moneyline today against a Nationals team that has lost four of Fedde’s last five starts.
The Pick: Reds Moneyline -125 (Risking 1.25 units to win 1.0 units)
2019 Betting Results:
MLB: 43-38-4 (+1.55 units)
NHL: 1-0 (+1.0 units)
