From the Betting Window, 7/13/19: Trusting the Yankees, Plus a Typical Coors Game?

From the Betting Window

Friday 7/12/19 Picks & Results:

Yankees Team Total Over 6.5 Runs (-125) = LOSS (-1.25 units)

Saturday 7/13/19 Picks:

967 Toronto Blue Jays at 968 New York Yankees, 12:05 p.m. CT

The Yankees failed us last night but one mistakes bettors will make is to avoid taking a team that recently burned them. The Yankees have the exact same total today (6.5) as they did last night when they only scored four runs in a primo matchup versus Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez. So what? Last night’s failures by New York’s offense has nothing to do with today’s game against Clayton Richard, who surrendered four home runs the last time he faced the Yankees. Granted, those were all solo shots but it’s worth rolling the dice that Richard won’t be as fortunate today at Yankee Stadium. Richard is a low strikeout pitcher with a high walk and hard-hit rates. I’m rolling with the Yankees again.

The Pick: Yankees Over 6.5 Runs (-135) = Risking 1.35 units to win 1.0 units

963 Cincinnati Reds at 964 Colorado Rockies, 7:10 p.m. CT

These two teams only combined for six runs last night but tonight’s installment should play like your typical Coors Field game. Reds starter Tanner Roark surrendered three home runs in his last start (a no decision against Milwaukee) and if he’s dinger prone again tonight he won’t last long. On the other side, Kyle Freeland returns to the big leagues tonight in hopes of turning his season around. He was a 17-game winner last year but owns a 7.13 ERA in 12 starts this season before being demoted to the minors six weeks ago. Perhaps he’ll come back tonight humbled and motivated, but the fact remains he surrendered 16 home runs in just 59 ⅓ innings prior to being sent down. The over is a perfect 6-0 in Freeland’s last six starts and while rain is in the forecast, it’s also expected to be hot and humid in Colorado. The ball should fly tonight.

The Pick: Reds/Rockies over 14 Runs (-110) = Risking 1.10 units to win 1.0 units
