From the Betting Window: Trends, Pitching Matchup Favors Over in Atlanta

Season Results: I finally got a total right in the Dodgers-Cardinals series but I missed on the Rays-Royals under as the two teams combined for nine runs. Following that 1-1 night, my season record is now 27-9.

I have one play for Thursday…

907 Atlanta Braves at 908 Miami Marlins, 6:10 p.m. CT

Tonight’s starter for the Braves is Sean Newcomb, who has had issues with control and limiting hard contact. Meanwhile, Elieser Hernandez is a flyball pitcher that gives up a ton of hard contact himself (35.9%). His strikeout rate is also only 16.1% and while the Braves haven’t been stinging the ball lately, tonight is a good opportunity for Freedie Freeman and Co. to get back on track.

The over is 18-7-1 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams in Miami and is 43-21-3 in the last 67 meetings overall. In the Marlins’ last five games against a left-handed starter, the over is 4-1. Finally, the over is 7-3 in Newcomb’s last 10 starts and 6-1 in his last seven road starts so the trends are on our side here, too.

Prediction: Braves/Marlins over 8.5
