From the Betting Window: Two Over/Under Plays for Your Saturday

Season Results: Due to a hectic radio week (which included being out at the PGA Championship), I only posted plays on Tuesday. That was my first losing day since starting this column a week ago, as I went 1-2 on the night. That brings my record to 7-2 in this column.

I’ll try to get back on track on Saturday with a pair of over/unders that I like:

Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles, 12:05 p.m. CT

These two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday so note this prediction applies to the first game today. The Orioles recalled right-hander Jimmy Yacabonis from Triple-A Norfolk to start this game. He currently owns a 7.15 ERA in four appearances (two starts) with Baltimore this season and now draws one of the best offenses in baseball. The Red Sox have not scored fewer than five runs in their last five games and while the Orioles’ talent pool was depleted at the trade deadline, they racked up 12 runs on Friday night versus Boston pitching.

The over is a perfect 5-0 in the Red Sox’ last five road games and is 4-0 in the Orioles’ last four home games. After these two teams combined for 31 runs last night, I see plenty of value in the over again in Game 1 of the doubleheader.

Prediction: Red Sox/Orioles over 9.5

Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox, 6:10 p.m. CT

The White Sox lead the majors with a 25.7% strikeout percentage against right-handers this season and Trevor Bauer has been lights out all year. James Shields, meanwhile, has improved slightly this year and while the Indians have a potent lineup, they’ve been significantly worse on the road this year compared to at home. After these two teams combined for just a single run on Friday night, I like the under here.

Prediction: Indians/White Sox under 8.5
