Having lived through the 1985 Cardinals World Series loss, and the 2001 Rams Super Bowl shocker, I can relate to what Kansas basketball fans are dealing with and are going to be dealing with for the next year.
There’s nothing worse as a sports fan than having your team be the dominant one, the prohibitive favorite to win the championship, and then be ousted in shocking fashion. The KU upset loss to Northern Iowa is a perfect example. Most people thought Kansas was going to win it all. They fell behind big, gave themselves a chance, and then were ousted on a crazy, enthralling, heartbreaking three pointer in the closing moments.
Even though I live in Missouri, and should be a KU hater, I’m ambivalent about them. So, I kind of feel bad for their fans. When the Patriots lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl, I was thrilled…because I hate the Patriots.
This time, I kind of feel sorry for KU. Getting crushed hurts
