In winning three out of four against the Dodgers, the Cardinals made some fans in the process. “They were great,” said Dodgers manager Joe Torre. “They’ve really put together a good team over there. We’re just happy to get out of here with a win.”
Added Dodger broadcaster Charlie Steiner to 101 ESPN’s Bernie Miklasz on the Bernie show…”the Cardinals are the best team we’ve seen.”
The drama and the action were superb during the four games, and the Cardinals played relentless, mostly high quality baseball, and did it against the team with the best record in the National League.
There’s no reason to believe that the Cardinals won’t be playing in October. And if they get to the playoffs, there isn’t a team in the NL that will want to face what L.A. faced in the first three games in Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright and Joel Piniero. If Kyle Lohse gets back on the beam, look out.
