101 ESPN’s Senior Spotlight shines on Maddy Riek of Mehlville High School

Please read on to hear Maddy’s mom describe what makes her so special …

Maddy decided the spring before her freshman year she wanted to pick up a tennis racquet and learn to play tennis because she wanted to play in high school.

Maddy was ranked number 9 and was a swing Varsity player her freshman year.

Maddy was on the first girl’s tennis team at Mehlville to ever win a district title and win two more her sophomore and junior years.

She worked her way all the way to number 1 her Senior year to have her season ended a week before Senior night with a torn meniscus in a match against Jackcon High School. Maddy finished and won the match before complaining about her knee. Maddy had surgery in October and rehabbed her rear off to be able to play her final year of varsity soccer to only have it canceled because of COVID-19.

Maddy is also part of STL CAPS, NHS and STUCO.

She will be attending KU in the fall and looking to earn a degree in Nursing and becoming a Nurse Anesthetist.
